Main tasks
The ‘iSTAR – integrative Advanced Clinician Scientists Targeting Inflammatory and Infectious Disease’ programme at the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) supports excellent clinician scientists to develop independence and leadership in the field of immune-mediated inflammatory diseases.
The call is open to scientifically and clinically highly-qualified clinicians,
- who have already or will shortly receive their certification as medical specialist (Facharzt/-ärztin),
- who have a proven and outstanding research profile with a focus on inflammatory or infectious diseases,
- who have already successfully secured third-party funding.
Your Profile
Please submit all documents in one PDF file in English:
- A CV (no more than 5 pages) including (i) a list of major publications (please highlight the 5 most important publications of the past 5 years), (ii) a list of secured third-party funds, and (iii) note of first leadership experience;
- a motivational letter, including (i) how the planned project would contribute to the achievement of iSTAR’s long-term goal to close the lag between basic research and clinical applications in the field of inflammatory and infectious diseases, and (ii) which team-oriented processes the applicant would like to implement to build and advance her/his group.
- a research proposal with time and budget plan for a funding period of 6 years (max. 5 pages);
- a letter of support by the current and if applicable former clinical mentor confirming the clinical qualification;
- two additional reference letters from clinical and scientific mentors.
The review process will take place within 2-4 months.
