Main tasks

At the Hamburg Center for Translational Immunology (HCTI) within the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), we are actively seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows with a robust background in experimental immunology in the laboratory of Prof. Christoph Schramm and Dr. Dorothee Schwinge.

In our research we focus on the pathogenesis of autoimmune liver diseases and how liver inflammation modulates the interaction of immune cells with parenchymal cells. We aim to elucidate mechanisms of immune regulation in the liver, including the influence of environmental factors such as microbiota and endogenous factors such as sex hormones in experimental and translational approaches. We believe that understanding hepatic immune regulation is key to the development of novel therapies for autoimmune diseases of the liver and of other organs.

We use a wide range of methods and cutting-edge platforms, including translational mouse models, cell and organoid culture, bulk and 10X single-cell RNA-and nuc-sequencing, high dimensional flow cytometry, multiplex immunohistochemistry and other spatial imaging techniques such as Xenium.
