Main tasks
This position (reference number FK03-326/3) is initially to be filled for 5 years from 1 April 2027. A permanent contract is planned following a positive evaluation.
Cardiovascular research is one of the scientific priorities of the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf. We are looking for a person with a strong research record and proven teaching competencies who can actively contribute to the profile of this research area, which is part of the Hamburg Centre for Cardiovascular Research (HCCR). The professorship involves com-prehensive participation in teaching students in the disciplines of medicine, dentistry and midwifery.
- Head of the Institute for Experimental Pharmacology and Toxicology and representative for research and teaching of the subjects Pharmacology and Toxicology
- Establishment and profiling of internationally recognised research activities in the context of the UKE’s existing research priorities
- Planning and implementation of courses in Pharmacology and Toxicology, both as part of the curriculum and of postgraduate training
- Close scientific cooperation with other institutes and clinics of the HCCR and associated faculties of the University of Hamburg
- Active participation in joint research projects (e.g. collaborative research centres, clusters of excellence initiatives) as well as development planning and design of new initiatives
- Active participation in the design and introduction of innovative degree programmes at the UKE, as well as in the stronger integration of digital teaching formats
- Close cooperation with other preclinical and clinical subjects in the area of teaching
Teaching commitments
Teaching load according to the Teaching Obligation Regulation for Hamburg Institutions of Higher Education [LVVO] in its currently valid version. A reduction in the teaching load is gov-erned according to Sections 15 et seq. LVVO.
Your Profile
- In accordance with Section 15 of the Hamburg Higher Education Act [HmbHG] of 18 July 2001, as amended, including proof of a postdoctoral lecturing qualification or an equivalent scientific qualification in pharmacology
- Completed degree in medicine or a biomedical science and doctorate
- Specialist qualification in Pharmacology and Toxicology or recognition as a pharmacologist by the German Society of Pharmacology (DGP)
- Outstanding publications and high international visibility in the field of experimental pharmacology
- Recognised research achievements, in particular through the successful acquisition of public third-party funding (e.g. DFG, BMBF, EU)
- Experience in leading scientific working groups
- Extensive teaching experience in the subjects of Pharmacology and Toxicology
- Experience in supervising students from different academic backgrounds in their final theses and dissertations
- Expertise in stem cell/tissue engineering techniques is desirable
- Experience in translating research results into practical applications (translational approaches) is desirable
- Committed design and implementation of teaching activities as well as innovative further development of courses in the Hamburg model degree programmes iMED and iMED DENT and in the training and continuing education of postgraduates is expected; experience in the use of digital teaching formats is desirable
