Main tasks

Our Department of Health Economics and Health Services Research is part of the Hamburg Center for Health Economics (HCHE) at the University of Hamburg and welcomes you to join us.

 

You can expect a varied field of activity in an interdisciplinary team with a good working atmosphere. The opportunity for professional qualification (in particular PhD, possibly habilitation) is given and supported.

 

  • Working on social and health care epidemiological, health care research-related, gerontological and geriatric issues (e.g. determinants of health in old age; utilization of health services) - mainly based on cohort studies
  • Presentation of the results at scientific conferences
  • Publication of scientific results in peer-reviewed international journals
  • Participation in university teaching

 

This position is initially limited to three years. An extension is envisaged and can also be filled on a part-time basis.

Your Profile

  • At least a good academic degree in social sciences, economics, gerontology, epidemiology, health economics, health sciences, psychology or comparable qualification
  • Interest in issues of social/care epidemiology, care research or geriatrics and gerontology
  • Independence, initiative, ability to self-reflect, flexibility, ability to work in a team
  • Sound theoretical knowledge of statistical methods, e.g. common models of panel data analysis, econometrics, regression analysis methods
  • Ideally: initial practical experience in the application of the above-mentioned methods
  • Confident use of at least one statistical software package (ideally Stata; otherwise e.g. SAS, R, SPSS)
  • Very good English language skills
  • Very good MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
